Powell has recently secured a large-scale contract for the new fit out of Cardiff Airport.
In a bid to revamp Cardiff Airport, £4m will be spent introducing new coffee outlets in its arrivals hall, increasing retail space and expanding the departures lounge to accommodate anticipated growth following the announcement earlier this year of new flights with Qatar Airways. Improvements will also be made to other areas of the terminal, the executive lounge and parking facilities.
The contract includes fit out and expansion to the new departures lounge and executive lounge, including space planning, partitioning, flooring, acoustic ceilings and furniture, as well as new heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC), lighting and power.
Powell has been awarded the contract in conjunction with one of Wales’ largest architectural practices Powell Dobson, and will be working in partnership together to deliver the project at Cardiff Airport.
Gareth Knight, Powell’s Technical Director, said: “This is an exciting time for Wales and, as a local company, we’re thrilled to have been awarded the contract. We truly believe this new design concept will transform the experience for passengers at Cardiff Airport.”
Ann-Marie Smale, Powell Dobson Architects Managing Director, commented: â€ÂWe are delighted to have secured the design element of this project alongside Powell’s experienced fit out team. It’s a really exciting time for Cardiff Airport with the recent announcements of new flights and hopefully passengers will see a real difference in the quality of the departure areas with the vision the team will create.â€Â
Powell will begin the fit out works next month; Overall works at the airport will be completed in time for Summer 2018.
