Agile working – you may have heard this term used in the industry a lot by now, but still haven’t had a solid explanation of what exactly it is, and why it’s so beneficial.

Put simply, agile working is the process of adopting a flexible and productive working environment, by creating a space that utilises technology and customisation. In an agile working space, an individual can work where they want and how they want, depending on how it best suits the task at hand. The idea is to maximise flexibility and minimise limitations.

The ‘Agile Office’ is designed to encourage the flow of ideas and improve productivity through less rigid structures and processes.



What are the benefits of Agile Working?

It’s no use just knowing what Agile Working is, without understanding what benefits it can bring to a company structure. Here’s some of the benefits that Agile Working can bring:

  1. Space Utilisation

    – Implementing hot desks and other agile furniture means you don’t need a static desk and PC for every single employee. You can have what you need, and it works for people who may be out of the office most days or for people coming and going. This makes your space more cost effective and frees up valuable space.

Of course it’s important to address the potential barriers that can stop a company adopting agile working.
