Powell has recently completed a large-scale fit out project at the national airport for Wales in time for the summer season.
Works at Cardiff Airport included an extension and fit out in the Departure Lounge and a complete redesign of the 51° Executive Lounge, which now features a brand-new 51° Business Lounge addition. With stunning views across the Vale of Glamorgan, the 51° Lounge offers more hot and cold snacks and a range of Welsh products to enjoy before jetting off.
The extended Departures area is light and airy with panoramic views across the airfield for customers to enjoy, while the interior features wall graphics that showcase key Welsh landmarks.
The £4m transformation at Cardiff Airport also includes the introduction of new Costa Coffee outlets in the arrivals hall and in departures, a new WH Smith retail space offering Well Pharmacy products and an enhanced luggage screening system.
Works at the airport began 8 months ago, including space planning, partitioning, flooring, acoustic ceilings and seating areas including USB-ports and plug sockets, as well as new heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC), lighting and power.
With double digit growth projected for the coming year, the aim of the investment at Cardiff Airport is to improve the overall experience for all passengers, encouraging travellers to relax and enjoy the modern facilities before getting on a flight.
Mark Bailey, Director of Airport Planning and Development at Cardiff Airport said; “The outstanding results at Cardiff Airport have been achieved after months of planning and hard work of the team and contractors who supported our vision in delivering an exceptional customer experience.
Gareth Knight, Technical Director at Powell said; “We are delighted with the results of this project; The newly designed Departure Lounge captures the spirit of Wales and one I’m sure will continue to impress passengers well into the future. It has been a pleasure to work with the team on this project and deliver to schedule in time for a busy and exciting summer season to come at Cardiff Airport.
Powell celebrated the unveiling of the new-look Cardiff Airport where Cabinet Secretary for Economy and Transport Ken Skates and Wales international rugby star Sam Warburton OBE officially opened the area with a commemorative plaque made from local Welsh slate.
