About the project.
Altus Group was formed in 2001, supporting the UK and Irish markets with world leading electronic production equipment. Based in Redditch, Worcestershire, the company moved into a brand-new applications facility, combining open plan office space, warehousing space and equipment demonstrations area.
Altus Group had a fixed date for their open day, with works needing to be completed within 8 weeks.
After working successfully with Industore Powell’s sister company that specialise in automated storage and retrieval systems Altus Group awarded Powell the contract for the design, fit out, and furniture supply of its new headquarters.
This site needed to be transformed into a high-quality working environment for staff, offering excellent demonstration and training facilities for sales and engineering teams to be proud of.
Throughout the duration of the project, we provided guidance on each stage of the planning. To utilise space within the building, our team specified and arranged a mezzanine for an open plan office area on the top level.
This was a key focus area for our client, who wanted to achieve a sophisticated and inviting area for visitors as soon as they stepped into the building. Altus Group wanted to use this space for welcoming clients and suppliers for product training, as well as using it as a refreshment area.
This needed to be light and airy, with the brand at the heart of the design. We created an atrium, with frameless glass partitions to really open up the space. Bespoke manifestations were made and unique biophilic elements were introduced to make a fresh feature wall at the welcome tea point.
These client areas offer a professional, state-of-the-art aesthetic, which is exactly what Altus Group wanted to achieve. The new layout meant that training would be more effective, combining desk-based learning with practical training.
We identified staffing needs and created concept visuals with space plans for desking and seating areas. Furniture was supplied by Senator, Allermuir, Torasen and Boss Design.
In the meeting rooms, striking geometric wall covering designs by Tektura bring the areas to life. And low level, matte black lockable cabinets were provided by Abox for simple yet sophisticated storage for office documentation.
Our client wanted staff to feel a great sense of pride working at their new home, and that’s exactly what Powell delivered.
