ROCKWOOL® Limited is part of the ROCKWOOL Group. With one factory based in Bridgend and over 500 employees across the UK, the company offer a full range of high-performing and sustainable insulation products for the construction industry. The company wanted to enhance customer experience and promote the ROCKWOOL brand. The reception area fell below the normal high-quality standards within ROCKWOOL, and the refurbishment needed to show the company’s commitment to staff and customers.

Powell was awarded the contract for the design, refurbishment and furniture supply at ROCKWOOL.

The refurbishment.

We were tasked with refurbishing the ground floor level of the client’s UK Headquarters. This included works to the large reception/visitor area, kitchen, toilets and walkways, to creatively showcase and represent the ROCKWOOL experience. 

The welcome area for visitors needed to be utilised better and the space needed to portray a more contemporary, nature-inspired style with the ROCKWOOL product range in mind.  Our Lead Interior Designer provided a full design package, to include space planning, 3D modelling and specification of materials and furniture.

Working closely with each brand within the ROCKWOOL Group, a range of the client’s products were used within the upgraded interior.

A large, beautifully bespoke reception desk was clad in Basalt, which is the core material used within the client’s products, as well as a fresh feature wall demonstrating elements of the ROCKWOOL range. The exquisitely powerful image of the natural hills and mountains where Basalt is formed, is presented on the glass manifestations to provide a real wow-factor through the walkways of the newly refurbished ground floor. The brand-new ceiling was also designed using Rockfon systems to ensure comprehensive acoustic control.

Comfortable, soft seating furniture from Narbutas was included into reception to make the space attractive and relaxing for visitors.

Within the six-week turnaround, our team also integrated access control speed gates aiding staff and visitors in and out of reception. We also installed new air-conditioning units and lighting throughout the ground floor. All works were completed within a fully operational building that needed to be carefully phased and managed throughout.

The results.

ROCKWOOL has truly been transformed. The 3D design visual has really come to life, providing an entrance point that is bright and attractive, whilst reflecting the core values of the company.

Since refurbishing the environment, our client has reported an increase in staff morale, and they have received positive feedback from visitors to the upgraded facility.
